Here we go...

I recently made risotto for my boyfriend on Valentine's Day and was so proud of how it turned out (it wasnt even that good, but it was my first) that I gave my cat some to taste. I wanted to share that moment with her, the way you want to tell your closests friends about a restaurant you just discovered. As she cautiously came closer, backed away, and then decided to try to it, I realized my cat (like most people out there) doesn't appreciate the complexity of textures, flavors and aromas of good food.

Having this six sense (the sense of understanding food) is as much a blessing as it is a curse. And all of us have the capacity to tap into it, but most of us don't. I can't remember the last time I ate just to eat. This is quite the handicap at a fast food restuarant, office party or friends house.
